What other compromises are you willing to make?

Buying within your means isn’t just about buying in outer rim suburbs. For example, are you willing to purchase a smaller home?

  • A single-storey as opposed to a two-storey;
  • A semi, terrace, duplex, townhouse or villa instead of a stand-alone house;
  • An apartment instead of a house?

How about yard size? Do you have to have that garden or big lawn that may be difficult to maintain? Are you willing to let some of these go for easier maintenance?

How about a garage? Do you have to have a garage or would you be willing to buy a property with a carport or driveway instead?

What other compromises are you willing to make?

Be realistic with what you are looking for and what you are really willing to compromise.

We opted for a single-storey home in an outer rim suburb with a small and easy to maintain yard when we purchased our first home.

Based on your answers above, what are you willing to buy? Then it’s time to consider what incentives exist to buying.
